Sale Sharks now play their home matches at the AJ Bell Stadium, which is close to Junction 11 on the M60. Not having travelled to this stadium before, the details below are mainly from the Sale Sharks website and local transport websites – there are other travel options listed on the Sale Sharks website.

TRAIN
The nearest train stations are Irlam and Patricroft. From either station it is a short walk to Liverpool Road, from where you’ll need to get the Number 67 Bus.
From Irlam catch the bus towards Manchester and alight at the Peel Green, Liverpool Rd/Salford City Stadium stop; From Patricroft take the bus towards Cadishead Glaze Estate and alight at the Peel Green, Liverpool Rd/Salford City Stadium stop.
Irlam is on the Manchester Oxford Road to Liverpool Lime Street line and has a half-hourly service.
Patricroft is on the Manchester Victoria to Liverpool Lime Street line and has an hourly service.

From London, Virgin Trains run a direct service from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly – with advance fares from £21.00 each way.
Advance fares to Irlam are from £22 each way (change at Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road).
Journey times are around 3 hours each way.

From Reading, CrossCountry trains run a direct service to Manchester Piccadilly – with advance fare from £38.30 each way, however travelling via London would be cheaper (from £33.00 each way) and travel times are similar either route.
At the time of checking, the Online Journey Planners where not showing any reasonable journeys/fares for Reading to Irlam.

COACH
There is a direct National Express coach service from London Victoria to Manchester – with typical fares from £13.65 each way.
There are no suitable coaches from Reading for those planning a day trip.
From Manchester you would need to use local train/metrolink/bus services described above.
